Camano Island is a drive-on island.  No ferry ride/wait is needed to get home to Camano.  Direct access is via WA state highway 532 from I-5, exit 212.

Camano Island is one of two islands in Island County.  The other island is Whidbey Island.  Whidbey Island is to the west, it is bigger and shields Camano from any weather extremes approaching from the Puget Sound.  Camano is sunny year-round but does not have the weather extremes that Seattle, and the Seattle metro area, can experience regarding winter rain levels, summer extreme temps or winter storms.  Camano is said to be 'in the rain shadow' of the Olympic Mountain range.

The waters around Camano make for great local crabbing.  Whales can be seen from the parks around Camano:  orcas and humpbacks, along with other marine wildlife.  Camano Island has a very active Whale Watch group on Facebook.  The Center for Whale Research at Friday Harbor is the leading authority for information and scientific research regarding the marine mammals in our Salish Sea waters.
